- Broccoli
- Avocado oil – With high heat temperatures you should use avocado oil. Save the olive oil for salad dressing or lower heat temperatures.
- Seasonings: garlic, soy sauce, honey
Tips & Tricks
- If your chicken breasts are very large, you can butterfly them to make them thinner. I’ve found out from multiple attempts that 1-inch cubes work best for this air fryer chicken and broccoli recipe. Any larger they are hard to hold with chopsticks.
- Don’t leave the chicken and broccoli in the air fryer once the timer goes off. The air fryer will hold onto heat and continue to cook the chicken, making it tough. Remove the basket from the air fryer and transfer it to the plates.
- Always use a meat thermometer to make sure the internal temperature is 165F. Once the timer goes off, take the chicken out of the air fryer so you don’t dry out the chicken.
Tools to make this Air Fryer Chicken and Broccoli
- Cosori Air Fryer – this is my favorite air fryer. The large air fryer basket makes it so easy to cook your favorite recipes
- Spatula – you will need a spatula to flip over the chicken and broccoli to make sure that it doesn’t burn and that it cooks thoroughly.

Substitutions
- If you don’t have any fresh broccoli, you can use frozen broccoli. Make sure to defrost it prior to cooking. If you don’t you might need to add more cooking time.
- Instead of boneless skinless chicken breasts, you can use chicken thighs, chicken tender or chicken cutlets. If the chicken cubes are thinner than one inch you may need to reduce the cooking time.
- If you want to make this recipe Paleo or gluten-free, simply replace the soy sauce with Tamari (Gluten-free) or coconut aminos (gluten-free and paleo).
- Also, if you don’t have avocado oil you can substitute it with melted ghee or melted coconut oil.
What to serve with Chicken and Broccoli
This chicken and broccoli can be served with your favorite type of rice; one of my favorite types of rice to pair it with is Basmati rice in the Instant Pot. And if you’re trying to watch your carbs or keep this recipe keto, serve it with this cilantro lime cauliflower rice.
We all know my go-to is Instant Pot Rice, but let me tell you, this Slow Cooker Quinoa has been a game changer lately. I find myself making it more often the rice….Shocking I know. Perfect for those easy meal prep days!

This recipe is always a favorite for us, especially on weeknights. Last time I made it, I used coconut aminos instead of soy sauce and omitted the honey. I topped the bowls of it with sesame seeds and some green onions. Soooo good!
Chicken and broccoli are my son’s two favorite things, so I had to make this for him! He loved it and I’ll be making it again soon. It’s so super easy! Thanks.
My whole oven is an air fryer, with a large cookie sheet size tray, so super easy, and fast. I make this every Thursday for myself while my husband is playing golf. I add red pepper flakes too.
I’m so glad you love it!
