❤️ Why you’ll love this easy air fryer chicken recipe
- Meal Prep – A Spatchcock chicken is a whole chicken, so you have plenty of protein to meal prep! Just slice the chicken up into desired cuts of meat and then pair them with your favorite sides.
- Easy Recipe – With this being a prepared chicken, all you have to do is throw this into the air fryer and cook
Ingredients
- Trader Joes Spatchcock Chicken – I bought the sweet and savory one, but you can also get the lemon rosemary version

✳️ Tips & Tricks
If it looks like the outside of the chicken is going to burn while you try to get the inside up to temperature, you can use aluminum foil to cover the top of the chicken. Like I did with the Lemon Rosemary one.
Use the aluminum foil to “tent” the whole chicken. That will help the chicken not get the “burnt” look. I do this once the skin gets to my desired doneness. If you do it for the entire cooking time, the chicken skin won’t get nice and crispy. Plus it will take longer to cook!
Ensure you remove the chicken as soon as the timer goes off/ the internal temperature is 165F, so you don’t overcook the chicken.

❓FAQs
What is the point of a spatchcock chicken?
Spatchcocking ensures that a whole chicken cooks evenly.
What is the difference between a spatchcock and a chicken?
Spatchcock doesn’t refer to a chicken, but instead a way to cook a chicken
What does Spatchcock mean?
Spatchcock entails removing the backbone of a chicken or turkey so that the poultry can lay flat. By cooking it flat, the chicken breast and thighs can cook at the same time. Typically this results in less cooking time and often the chicken breast is more juicy since it cooks for less time than if you were cooking it whole.
