Cooking this sausage in an air fryer is a game-changer. No need to fire up the grill when it’s raining or snowing outside. These cheddar chicken sausages come out perfect in the air fryer!

Cheddar sausages have always been my guilty pleasure, I always have them in the fridge. Once I tried these cheddar chicken sausages, I never looked back at the others.

✳️ Tips & Tricks

To ensure that the chicken stays moist is to check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer. Once they reach 165F, remove them from the air fryer. Don’t overcook.

If you want a crispy hot dog bun you can add the chicken sausage into the buns and cook for another 2 minutes.

  • Cosori Air Fryer – this is my favorite air fryer. The large air fryer basket makes it so easy to cook your favorite recipes
  • Tongs – tongs are easiest to remove and flip the chicken
  • Meat thermometer – You always want to make sure the internal temperature of ANY chicken 165F.

How to make Air Fryer Trader Joe’s Cheddar Chicken Sausage

  1. Remove the chicken sausage from the package.
  2. Transfer to the air fryer basket. Cook at 390F for 6 minutes flipping halfway through.
  3. Once the timer goes off make sure the internal temperature of the chicken is 165F and remove from the air fryer basket.
  4. Place sausages into hotdog buns. Serve and enjoy!

Oven Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F.
  2. Remove the chicken sausage from the package and transfer to a baking tray.
  3. Place a baking tray in the oven and cook for 10 minutes flipping halfway through. Make sure the internal temperature is 165F.
  4. Remove from oven and place into the hotdog buns.

Substitutions

If you aren’t a fan of cheddar chicken sausages you can use Sweet Apple Chicken Sausages or Regular Chicken Sausages.

What to serve with Cheddar Chicken Sausages

You can pair these with potato chips or French fries. Another one of my favorite things to do is cut the chicken sausages up and throw them into Mac and cheese.

How to store

  • Store leftovers in an airtight glass container for up to 5 days.

♨️ How to reheat

Remove the lid from the container and microwave on high for 45 to 60 seconds or until the chicken is warm. Alternatively you can transfer to a microwave save plate to warm up.

If you want, you can warm these up in your air fryer. Cook it for 2-3 minutes at 400F.

Yes, You can cook frozen chicken sausages in the air fryer you just have to add more time. Just make sure the internal temperature is 165F.
