Tips & Tricks

  • Be careful using the knife. Hands might get slimy from chicken wings and might slip off the knife. So you don’t cut yourself like me.
  • The internal temperature of the chicken wings needs to be 165F.
  • Don’t forget to cut off the wing tips!

Tools to make this Air Fryer Wings with Baking Powder Recipe

  • Tongs – tongs are easiest to remove and flip the chicken
  • Meat thermometer – You always want to make sure the internal temperature of ANY chicken is 165F

How to make Air Fryer Chicken Wings with Baking Powder

  1. Cut the chicken into flats and wings.
  2. Place the baking powder, salt, and black pepper into a gallon ziplock bag.
  3. Add the chicken wings into the bag and toss the chicken around until they are fully covered. 
  4. Transfer the chicken wings to the Air Fryer basket.
  5. Cook the chicken wings at 390F for 25 minutes.
  6. Remove from the Air Fryer Basket.
  7. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

How to make wings with baking powder in the oven

  1. Cut the chicken into flats and wings. Pat dry with paper towels to remove the excess moisture.
  2. Place the baking powder, salt, and black pepper into a gallon ziplock bag or a large bowl.
  3. Add the chicken wings into the bag and toss the chicken around until they are fully covered. 
  4. Line a cooking sheet with parchment paper. Lay the wings down in a single layer, not touching.
  5. Cook for 30 minutes. Flipping halfway through.
  6. Remove from the oven and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.

Substitutions

  • If you don’t want to break down chicken wings, you can buy them already broken down into drummettes and flats at your local grocery store. Please note that they most likely will be more expensive.
  • If you aren’t a fan of chicken wings, you can make boneless chicken wings by using chicken tenders
  • You can replace the salt and black pepper with our Air Fryer Chicken Dry Rub or a store-bought dry rub. You can also add garlic powder and onion powder as well.

What to serve with the Best Chicken Wings

Like any wing recipe, these go well with carrot sticks and celery sticks. Or you can serve them with french fries. Serve these wings with your favorite sauce.

I’m not a huge fan of buffalo sauce, but you can use this homemade ranch seasoning to make a ranch dipping sauce. Or serve them with your favorite BBQ sauce or blue cheese dressing.

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days.

How to reheat air-fried chicken wings

Place the chicken wings into the Air Fryer basket and cook at 390F for 5 minutes. That way, the chicken wings can get crunchy again. If you want them quicker, place them on a microwave-safe plate and microwave for 1.5-2 minutes or until warm.
