Crispy Air Fryer Ranch Chicken Legs
These Crispy Ranch Chicken Legs are a big hit in our house. As soon as the timer goes off on the air fryer, people come running for them.
I loved how the Teriyaki Chicken Legs turned out so I had to try it with my favorite ranch seasoning.
For these Air Fryer Ranch Chicken Legs, I used this Homemade Ranch Seasoning. I used it on chicken breasts too and made these delicious air fryer ranch chicken breasts.
You can also use the ranch seasoning to make a ranch vegetable dip!
I know they have the “burnt” skin look to it, but they’re definitely not burnt. The chicken leg skin is packed full of flavor. The chicken meat is so juicy.

Ingredients
- Chicken Legs – or you can use chicken leg quarters
- Homemade Ranch Seasoning – or you can use a store-bought brand. Just look for one that doesn’t have a lot of fillers or preservatives.

✳️ Tips & Tricks
If you don’t like your chicken legs crispy, you can line the air fryer basket with aluminum foil. Make sure you have enough aluminum foil to cover the top of the chicken legs.
Some of the chicken legs need the skin to be pulled/ stretched to cover the leg. This ensures you don’t get a mouth full of skin and no meat when you bite into it.
Once the timer goes off on the air fryer, remove the chicken right away. This ensures you don’t dry out the chicken.
Tools to make this Air Fryer Ranch Chicken Drumsticks Recipe
- Cosori Air Fryer – this is my favorite air fryer. The large air fryer basket makes it so easy to cook your favorite recipes
- Tongs – tongs are easiest to remove and flip the chicken legs
- Meat thermometer – You always want to make sure the internal temperature of ANY chicken 165F.
How to make Air Fryer Ranch Chicken Legs
- Remove the chicken legs from the package. Stretch the chicken skin if needed.
- Place the chicken legs into a ziplock bag and add in the homemade ranch seasoning
- Remove the air from the bag and seal it. Toss the chicken legs around to make sure they get coated in the seasoning.
- Transfer the chicken legs into the air fryer basket in a single layer. Don’t over crowd the legs.
- Cook at 390F for 20 minutes. Flipping the chicken legs halfway through. Check the internal temperature of the chicken legs.
- Once the timer goes off remove the chicken legs from the air fryer basket if they are at least 165F.
- Serve and enjoy.





Oven Directions
- Preheat oven to 400F degrees.
- Remove the chicken legs from the package. Stretch the chicken skin if needed.
- Place the chicken legs into a ziplock bag and add in the homemade ranch seasoning.
- Remove the air from the bag and seal it. Toss the chicken legs around to make sure they get coated in the seasoning.
- Line a cooking sheet with aluminum foil and place the chicken legs onto the cooking sheet.
- Transfer to the oven and cook for 40 minutes or until the internal temperature is 165F.
- Once the timer goes off remove and serve.
Substitutions
If you don’t have chicken legs or chicken drumsticks and want dark-meat chicken, you can substitute chicken legs for chicken leg quarters or chicken thighs.
If you don’t want to make my homemade ranch seasoning, you can use your favorite store-bought brand.

What to serve with Ranch Chicken Legs in the Air Fryer
I paired my chicken legs with Air Fryer Green Beans. Another great option is this Air Fryer Baked Potato.
How to store
Store leftovers in an airtight glass container for up to 5 days.
♨️ How to reheat
Remove the lid from the container and microwave on high for 1 to 1.5 minutes or until the chicken is warm. Alternatively, you can transfer to a microwave save plate to warm up.
To warm this up in your air fryer, cook it for 2-3 minutes at 400F.

Do you put foil on chicken in air fryer?
If your chicken drumsticks are large and you think that they might get burnt, I’d cover them with foil. Another reason to cover the chicken legs with foil is if you don’t like overly crispy chicken skin.
How long do I cook chicken legs in the air fryer?
Typically, chicken legs take about 20 minutes to be fully cooked in the air fryer.
Are Air Fried Chicken Drumsticks Low Carb?
Yes! These ranch chicken legs are low in carbs because I use a homemade ranch seasoning mix that is low in carbs. These have just 2g of carbs per chicken leg!
