Air Fryer Shake N Bake Chicken Breast
This Shake n Bake breading makes flavoring breast super easy! You can use it for multiple things, not just for chicken. This Shake n Bake Chicken Breast in the air fryer gives you the fried chicken taste without all of the added fat!
This Shake N Bake Chicken is so easy to make I also did Shake N Bake Chicken Thighs and Shake N Bake Chicken Tenders.
So funny story, I’m so used to breading chicken in a bowl that I completely forgot to use the bag that came with the Shake and Bake kit.
Basically, I used the same technique that I use for my Katsu Chicken Thighs for this recipe. Add the egg and milk to one dish, and add the breadcrumbs to the other dish. Dip the chicken breast into the egg wash and then into the breadcrumbs, and then air fry them.
So if you use the bag method, just dip the chicken into the egg wash first and then add them to a bag. Then add the Shake n Bake seasoning to the bag and then cook.
One of my favorite breaded chickens is this Air Fryer Chicken Katsu. It’s a different type of breading but trust me when I tell you, you have to try it!

Ingredients
- Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast: I used boneless skinless chicken breast for this recipe, but you can use any cut of chicken that you prefer.
- Egg: large eggs, and I try to get local or free-range when available
- Milk: I like to use Fairlife milk
- Shake n Bake: They have different types, but you can use any. I used the original one.
Tips & Tricks
- If you have a thick chicken breast, you may need to pound down the chicken breast to ensure an even cooking time. You can always butterfly the chicken breast if it’s also super thick!
- Always use a meat thermometer to make sure the internal temperature is 165F. Once the timer goes off take the chicken out of the air fryer so you don’t dry out the chicken.
- If you have a thick chicken breast and you would like to butterfly it. Trust me when I tell you this, it is 10 times easier to cut the chicken breast when it is still frozen or halfway thawed.
Tools to make this Shake N Bake Chicken Breast in the Air Fryer
- Cosori Air Fryer – this is my favorite air fryer. The large air fryer basket makes it so easy to cook your favorite recipes.
- Avocado oil Spray Bottle– Just add your own avocado oil. That way, there are no additives. Just plain avocado oil.
- Tongs – tongs are easiest to remove and flip the chicken drumsticks
- Meat thermometer – You always want to ensure the internal temperature of ANY chicken is 165F.
How to make Air Fryer Shake n Bake Chicken Breast
- In one bowl, crack in your egg and add your milk. Whisk them together.
- In another bowl, add in your Shake n Bake seasoning.
- Place the chicken in the egg wash, ensuring you get both sides. Next, transfer the chicken into the Shake n Bake seasoning. Flip the chicken over and make sure it’s completely covered in the breadcrumbs.
- Transfer the chicken breast to the air fryer basket. Spray the top of the chicken with avocado oil.
- Cook the chicken breast for 18 minutes at 390F, flipping halfway. Spray the top again with avocado oil before cooking again to make it crispy.
- Once time goes off, make sure the internal temperature of the chicken is 165F.
- Remove from the air fryer basket and serve.
Substitutions
Chicken breast substitution: you can also use chicken breast cutlets, boneless skinless chicken thighs, or chicken tenders instead of chicken breasts.
What to serve with Shake N Bake Chicken
This chicken breast pairs nicely with a side salad or any low carb vegetable.
How to store
Store leftovers in an airtight glass container for up to 5 days.
How to reheat
Remove the lid from the container and microwave on high for 1 to 1.5 minutes or until the chicken is warm. Alternatively, you can transfer to a microwave save plate to warm up.
If you want to warm this up in your air fryer, cook it for 2-3 minutes at 400F.
